This is an ongoing project which consists of a series of works which all involves the use of GSR (galvanic skin response) sensors on plants. The sensors can measure small electrical currents within the plants and convert these fluctuations into MIDI data and control messages. This data can then be used to control both synthesizers to make music from the plants and also to control video editing software. We send this data recorded from the plants into modular synthesizers to make music, we also make videos of the plants and use the same MIDI data to control parameters of the patch within the video editing software. We present the works as large scale projections and sound installations where both the video and the audio is partially controlled by the plants themselves. We work site specific in nature and with local plants. All plants sends different types of signals depending on type, humidity and light conditions. We also perform concerts using plants and modular synthesizers.
