ELEctronic FLORA - KARNATAKA

Electronic Flora - Karnataka is based on recordings of electrical activity from eucalyptus trees at Nandi Hills in Karnataka, banyan trees at Dodda Aalada Mara and plants at Lalbagh botanical garden in Bangalore.

This work includes recordings of fourteen different plants where the electrical activity is transmitted through modular synthesizers and dictates melodies, notes and rhythms in the music. The electrical signals also provide cues for video editing. Each plant is also portrayed through detailed graphite drawings.

This work produced during an Artist in Residence at 1Shantiroad Studio in Bangalore, India through IASPIS The Swedish Arts Grants Committee.
